MAINTENANCE THIS WEEKEND 7/7/07

Hi All,

This weekend we'll be taking the UAB SITE down entirely for maintenance...The site will be going down Saturday morning and returning Monday morning....

While the site is down we'll still be providing a stream for MOST of that time... a maintenance page will be up linking you to the broadcast.

We're really excited for the server transition.

Looks good...very good. And the fix for the "Now Playing" function is something I have been looking forward to. That slow response ending up with a page of white space used to drive me bonkers.

Thanks to all involved for the effort to get this up and going. Now you can go and crash for a few days after being up all weekend.

Like the new look, too. Its like when a someone gets a new hair cut. Not sure if you like it at first because they don't look exactly like your friend used to, but it's still your friend so it really doesn't make any difference what so ever. Especially when that friend is a website that plays the greatest stuff around.

We're truly glad everyone is starting to get acquainted with the new look and feel of UAB. We were toying with just unloading EVERYTHING sometime in August as we have/had changes planned for every part of UAB in some way shape or form...

So instead of waiting until August, and with the recent savenetradio.org movement, we figure we'd unroll things as they were finished.

So far we're still testing some things out, but there seem to be a few improvements that we hadn't anticipated. The Broadcast Server has been running for 2 days straight without a restart. This was previously done due to false memory leak issues that were being had due to the flakiness of the old database.

You had have no idea how glad I was to fix some of the "back-burner" issues we'd had as far as the custom coding went. There's still a few things I/WE need to tinker with...but things are chugging along.

Wow. This is great! The performance is much better. The new layout will take a bit to get use to, but it is very well done...

Know what I miss? And I'm not being ungrateful for all the wonderful things that have been given us. But, I miss the "Artists Block" that used to play weekly.
