New ways to view Walt Disney World fireworks

Like many locals, I think I have found the perfect place for watching fireworks at Walt Disney World. Each Fourth of July we have dinner at the Polynesian Resort and then head down to the beach for the water pageant and fireworks. Even though it is crowded, it is nothing like being wedged shoulder to shoulder inside the theme parks. The kids can run around and play, and we beat all the traffic home -- everyone leaves happy.

As great as I think the Polynesian is, I'm really tempted by Disney's sweet new options for viewing the Wishes fireworks in the Magic Kingdom. Beginning Monday (July 13), individuals can book the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage. In the past, the nighttime excursions on Seven Seas Lagoon were limited to groups of eight or more staying at Disney resorts. Now, any adult can pay $53.99 and kids ages 3 to 9 are $30.99, which includes a character greeting onshore. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to reserve.

This summer, Disney is making good use of its often-vacant Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station by offering a Fireworks Dessert Party, which includes reserved seating for the Wishes fireworks and a dessert buffet.

The party begins an hour before the fireworks, but you will be given a specific arrival time when you make reservations. One of the Allears.net bloggers has a first-hand account of the experience plus photos of the desserts here. She reports chocoholics will be very happy, and others will find tasty options as well.

Adults pay $17.99, and kids ages 3 to 9 are $9.99. Call 407-WDW-DINE for reservations. The dessert party is offered through Aug. 28.

And I thought July 4th fireworks couldn't be surpassed.

They have had similar cruises in the past, especially at Epcot, but this sounds pretty cool. Not sure if I have the extra money laying around or not, sounds cool!

They still have the more intimate cruises available, but this could be a neat and cheaper alternative.

That cruise does sound fun, and I know the desert buffet will be awesome since they used to do a similar thing for Fantasmic in DL, and we loved it!

But I guess I need to book a trip to WDW in order to enjoy these fun things....Sad

Yea! Women are so weak that way. Not like us men. We can just enjoy the show. Although a few beers would make it a more memorable experience

I think as soon as the weather becomes more spring-like, that the desert party will return. With the cold, (I've been there when the weather never broke freezing), and this winter has had some people bewildered. It couldn't be fun to pay to watch while eating naturally "frozen" deserts for 2 hours.

From what I've been reading on other sites, the Terrace is actually covered with construction walls right now... The stoppage of the desert event is definitely related to this... Wonder what their plans are?

The coolest thing would be redo the whole area and kitchen, referb just for the desert event!
