Hello Fellow UABers!
I need your help! We are planning our first family trip to Disneyland and LA in June! It's not my first time (although it's been 24 years!) but Jack and Paige have never been there. We are planning four full days at the parks. Please send me your opinions on what we can't miss and any helpful hints you might have. We will get there a few days after Cars Land opens. We can't wait! If anyone wants to meet up with us, just let me know. I can bring things from Walt Disney World to trade if you want. Thanks for all your help! Smile. -John

We were just in DLR in December.

In DL itself:
Tiki Room - Its the original
HM - Its the Original
PotC - Its the Original
Fantasmic - Pretty awesome since its on the Rivers of America
Indiana Jones - One of the best queue lines in Disney
Golden Horseshoe - Billy Hill and Hillbillies - Great show!!
Mr Toad – Its been a while since you’ve been able to ride it
Alice in Wonderland – Unique and fun
Matterhorn – If you have time, try both tracks
Canal Boats – relaxing and unique
iasw – it’s the original
Finding Nemo – cute and has some remnants to 20,000 leagues
Great Moments with Mr Lincoln
In DCA
Anything new with the upgrade
GRR – you will get wet
California Screamin – AWESOME coaster
ToT – just to see how they did it
Monster’s Inc – Cute
The Aladdin Show – Awesome

Also try as many dining experiences as you can. Blue Bayou is a highly recommended since its pretty cool. And check out the hotels (Disneyland and The Grand Californian) if you can. Pretty cool places.

Visit Shrunken Ned in the Adventureland Bazaar and Fortune Red in the Pirates of the Caribbean shop.

Watch the Evil Queen open and close the curtains above Snow White's Scary Adventures

Ride the train through the entire park, especially the Grand Canyon and Dinosaur sections.

Visit Snow White's wishing well and stay for the full show.

Play the Star Wars videogame in the Tomorrowland shop (if it's still there - I used to play it all the time).

And, just for me, because I can't, eat gumbo in a bread bowl in New Orleans Square.

And oh! I just found out they had this.

In California Adventure, if you don't have problems with strobe lights, go and see the Toy Story Zoetrope in the Character Close-Up area.

I saw this at the Science Museum in London when they had a Pixar exhibit and it is amazing.

Well, I left off eating because the list would have been twice as long (except for Blue Bayou since that is so unique)

Mmmmmm...fried chicken!!

Blue Bayou is a must for us. I remember apple fritters in New Orleans Square. Do they still have them? Smile

While subject seems to be food, I would recommend the Napa Raose Lounge in the Grand Californian. It is wonderful!! A nice place for a great glass of California wine and an appetizer.

The hotel is spectacular - along the lines of the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Grand Californian has the added bonus of direct access into California Adventure.

Napa Rose is a fantastic restaurant, and I too recommend at least sitting in the lounge and grabbing a couple of drinks and some appetizers. Last time we were at Disneyland, we actually asked to take our dinner while seated in the lounge. It's that comfortable.

When will you be there? SweetMelissa and I will be there the first full week of June with her family..
