wow i intially read the article and my first thought was "Bad Form". I agree with tE--I don't think Disney will ever adopt a direct pay for preference system. I am an AP and I use Fast Pass all the time. I also spend a lot of time defending it...many folks have the perception it is like Magic Mountian and when they hear it is a level playing field they are impressed.
That said, I too see some of the problems with Fast Pass and like to see that there are folks out there thinking about improving the system. The overall system remains as initially set up...but somethings have changed--like Pirates and non-holiday Mansion. the FastPass system completely thwarted the overall queue up for these rides which inherently have a great hourly capacity...and the response was appropriate--remove the system. I'm sure more will be done in the future (we already see FastPass on some rides only on certain days) to improve the process.
Noting that I love the system and the fact that really wait times have improved tremendously over the years...I admit, I'm rather spoiled these days. There was a time I'd stand in line for HOURS...like a minimum of two to ride an attraction like Space, Slash or Indy. Pre-FastPass and Disney's California Adventure...waits like those were common and expected.
anyway.....
: )
**edit--clarification** i just noted this is in the WDW forum...my AP status is at DLR only...though I think my comments fit for WDW as well--though I did not visit the World prior to FastPass being implemented : )
