It is too bad they don't do that any more! Such a simple attraction.

I didn't like riding them so much as seeing them. One thing that I find to be exciting about WDW is the large amount of exotic transportation. Getting rid of the Swan Boats and Skyway makes the park more pedestrian.

Was the pun intended here?
Considering the definition of pedestrian would be those who walk, it would seem removing transportation rides would indeed have that effect.

The Swan Boats ran on the same kind of track used by the Mark Twain Riverboat. The boats headed south from the loading dock, went around the southern end of the Hub, passed underneath the bridge next to the Crystal Palace, then proceeded into Adventureland. They turned around by the Swiss Family Tree House and headed back to the dock the same way they came. They did not go near the castle. They turned around inbetween the loading dock and the Tomorrowland Terrace. Here is a picture I took of one of the boats back in 1974 as it passed under the Main Street Bridge heading toward Adventureland. (Notice the balloon release form the 3PM parade when Disney was still allowed to release balloons). Click on the picture for a larger view.

The pun was intended, but I still think that exotic transportation is a central defining element to what makes the parks exciting.

Oh, and I've been appreciating the photos, as well as the link to WaltDatedWorld.

I really like the way you look at things....Indeed, the parks were much more kinetic...Like the old Tomorrowland

Never get rid of anything! Just buy more land and keep expanding!

Manifest Destiny! Turn all of California into Disneyland. (From what I saw of CA, it could not hurt!)
