On the last post I made I saw aprildecember mention Westcot and thought... let's talk Westcot!
What do you think of it?
Why didn't it go into full stage of development?
Why DCA over Westcot?
What do you think they'd have there?
Let's talk about it _________________ Attention travelers, please remain seated. Your vechile will be rotating backwards. -Spaceship Earth |

i think part of it was money, and part of it was the fact that by the time they were really getting around to planning a new gate at DL, a lot of the transferred elements from epcot were starting to age. i mean, nowadays oldskool future world would be hugely popular, but management would probably want to rethink everything...dca was a simple concept and they could pull a lot of the opening attractions off the shelf and customize them with minimal fuss.

Are there any articles on Westcot? I'd never heard of the concept, but it'd definetely get me out to DL. |

Is there enough room in Anaheim or nearby that would hold a park like Epcot and be big enough? Also, would you keep the Future world/world showcase concepts?
Now that Disney has gone to a makeover of DCA( 1 billion?) can they afford Westcot in the near future? |

I don't think Westcot would ever come to life, at least not in Anaheim.... I think it would have required a ton of land, which isn't available since DCA was built.... |

Hi folks. In my own humble opinion I think WestCot was probably one of the greatest ideas that the company let get away. I think the whole notion of even putting a second park so close to the original was a bold move in and of itself. The problems with it of course, (and there were many), just flustered the top brass so much that nay original or unique concept for a second park got lost by the wayside. Especially when you consider that both the WestCot and DisneySeas were proposed at the same time. Personally I believe that if just one person at the top had said yes to either idea it all would have worked out better for everyone involved, including the public. I can't help wondering if things had gone differently that we would have been able to experience things like Horizons, WorldofMotion, and the original Journey Into Imagination out here on the west coast-even Wonders of Life could have enjoyed a second go-round out here. I only hope that with the new refurb on its way that DCA will be able to utilize even a modicum of some of the original ideas of much sorely missed opportunity like WestCot. Well, until next time, peace. |

There is talk of 3rd park in Ca, but they need to clean up DCA first. CTKnight raises a valid pt. Space is and will remain an issue at any park near DL. |

DisneySea would be great for orlando so bring it on forget about WestCot that died a slow death like the idea of putting a launch facility at Vandenberg Air force station for the space shuttle... hahaha .... what Disney needs is a real park to compete with six flags or universal islands of adventure come on please _________________

I think Disney needs to improve Hollywood studio's and DAK long before a new gate gets put into WDW _________________ Jason
