I was talking to a CM a couple weeks ago, and they are still having problems with the new ones. They had to re-imagineer them because they were too sleek, and rubbed during turns...this was as of July 6 _________________ Turning the warehouse into A Disney Sound Sensation.... |

Well, Monorail Red is running with air scoops but that doesn't work very well and they are only running Red if the temperature outside is below 85 degrees F. AND they're only allowing 15 people per car, even though the cars capacity is 22.
Monorail Blue is running it's testing cycle right now and Monorail Orange was delivered last week and was put on the beam but is not running yet. |

Yeah, I was reading about Monorail Blue and the problems because there is no AC on the units.... I don't understand how they could have missed something like that?
BTW, the awesome attraction poster that they released, is that available for purchase at Disneyland yet? I'm looking to get one, if they are available... _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

I'm not sure if it is or not. I know they've used it for the "Disneyland Today" brochure but I don't know about the poster.
You could try www.laughingplace.com. They have an AWESOME store for Disneyland/World merchandise.
And I think the reason that they missed the A/C on the Monorails is that they used the Mark V's as a template to build up from. The Mark V's didn't have A/C either. Their big mistake on the Mark VII's was taking away the open windows that the Mark V had. So there's no airflow in the cabins.
Both the Mark V and VII models have A/C in the front and rear cars. But that's it. |

Yeah, I checked there, they didn't have it... maybe it hasn't been released for purchase yet.... I will have to leave a "hole" on the walls for when it is! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best! |

Saw the blue one in rehersals two weeks ago. They are much smaller than Florida. The new paint job is great though. They could repaint the WDW ones instead of using them as billboards. |

Disneyland's Monorails were billboards too, when Nemo Subs opened up. They were god awful! Actually the last Monorail Mark V at Disneyland is still being used as a billboard for the Year of a Million Dreams campaign.
And Disneyland's Monorail System has always been smaller than WDW's. The very track they run on is smaller so Disneyland's can only hold a certain type of Monorail.
WDW knew from the beginning that they'd use the Monorail as more of a transportation device, rather than an attraction, like Disneyland's. But I tell ya, not seeing the Monorail in Tomorrowland is one of the things I miss whenever I go to TL at the MK. But they make up for it by still have a version of the PeopleMover. |
