Go to The Disney Gallery to learn about the Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary event coming on September 9, 2009 (09-09-09).
There is also a Shag HM 40th Anniversary event in August.
So...who's going to dish out the bucks and attend these? (I'm already starting to save my penny's!) _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

I've written down the dates... only so I can avoid going those days :p. I like HM a lot, but the items are a little pricy for my small budget. I will probably just go to the pin event they are having for HM in august, O-pin House. Much more affordable |

Sweet! It'll be just before our wedding. Maybe we can do a pre-honeymoon. |

I saw the info...and am wondering about the timing. Do you think they will do HMH next year??
As for the bucks to go...I dunno. The pricing for events has gone up so much--and the packages haven't changed. I know the economy isn't what it used to be...but I'm not sure I can justify the expense.
We'll see...I may change my mind!

deb and I were talking about that...it may be the last night before the overlay starts. But the date is perfect...9/9/9 (999 Happy Haunts)...gotta love their timing!
I've be calculating the trip cost, and so far, it looks like a go for us. We haven't decided weather to use DVC points and stay in a nice room in DLR, or crash at a friends house (which has been offered). Either way, lodging will not cost us anything. I've also found flights for well under $300 per person, but I'm not sure how long that will last.
So Cuddles, I guess you need to decide...a trip in February or a trip in September! _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

Well, in my opinion (and this is only my opinion)...
I'd go with Dearly Departed (which is the one we'll get if we go, which we probably will). You get all the events (DCA, DL, dinner, seminar, gifts) without having to take the hotel room. Since we have (or will have) PAP's, we can stay anywhere and get the free parking, so it's pretty easy for us.
Now, only you know your finances, but also consider if wifey is going too (and if not, and we go, you could hang with us).
To me, the Dearly departed is the biggest bang for your buck. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

See that is the one I was looking at since I am in the same situation as you. I have parking on my pass and can stay with friends for free. I was looking at hitchhikers but I think I will feel disappointed if I do not do the Dinner. Thanks for your opinion. _________________ Jason

We're still waiting to hear how this "furlough" time will go...mandatory days off without pay just STINKS.
If we're required to take half in the first four months of the year...all extras will be out for me until June.
I hate money - budgets - and not being able to see my friends.
Disney in Sept is great...still unsure about the event. What package are you guys looking into?

We're looking at the one that doesn't include hotel (we'll be using our DVC points). So far, it looks good for us to go, now we just need to see if our other Haunted Mansion friends will be attending... _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

That sounds like SOOOO much fun.
I'm spending a good portion of today going over my budget (money and vacation time). I don't know how it's all going to come out. I sure hope it involves some travel to see good friends this year.
Cross your fingers for me!
