not a big fan of the wdwmagic forum, but I stumbled upon this rumor that I thought would be worth linking to:

I hope it's true! I saw that hat being constructed, and I would love to see it being dismantled. |

I, too, dislike the hat and would love to see it gone. I've always liked Earful Tower as the icon for the park. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

A Disney VP made the comment recently that it would be removed soon. I hope so. I would not mind them MOVING it elsewhere, but it really looks out of place where it is |

They should hold a contest for a guest to push the button to blow it up. How do I enter? |

Not that all change is bad. Who's to say that the origanl designers of any of the parks got it right the first time. But I think the hat is a blemish on the park, and have always thought so. The tower, to me, is the symbol of DHS.
I was watching an old parade at then MGM from 1992, or so. This was before the hat. The view straight up the main drag showed the Chinese theater it all is glory. Now it seems hidden or tucked away.
Move the hat! Maybe Universal Studios would buy it and blow it up as suggested. They could make it a pay-per-view event. _________________ [ |

Hallelujah! That hat hides the wonderful view of the theatre. When people walk down the street, they should think, "Wow, it's like I'm in Hollywood," not, "Wow, that's a big hat." _________________ Beth's Blog |

Totally agree with you!!! Love the entrance to the theater and the way it is hidden behind the hat is disappointing! |

Move it to the set of Fantasmic or in that vicinity.. Make it a Sorcerer Mickey greeting spot.... It is Sorcerer Mickey after all... Keep it but put it somewhere that it fits in.... |

I was reading comments about the Sorcery in the Sky Fireworks Spectacular and one of the comments made me think...if they eliminate the hat, does that mean they'd bring back Sorcery in the Sky Fireworks Spectacular? _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

I'm glad this is being removed from where it is. I think DHS was much better with the view down the street to the theater instead. The Theater makes a more impressive and more theme appropriate backdrop.
Of course, this means they may have to move the pin shop as well...
If they want to move the hat over by the animation section or somewhere else, as someone above mentioned as a possible meet and greet area, That is fine. I don't think I would take it over the existing Micket site which is air conditioned versus this air cooled version. But there might be a way to get some more "appropriate" use out of it in that area of the park. |

Disneyland runs both Fantasmic and Fireworks on the same night (one right after the other). Why not do the same here? _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

At least it (Sorcery in the Sky) will give Disney events a show to have for Special Events. |
