I saw this at EPCOT when it was there in the early 90s. I liked it a lot, but I'm wondering if all the fasination about it coming back will stand up. It's kind of dated and of course it can be seen on YouTube. I know everyone is wanting a replacement for HISTA, but is the hyped interest in seeing Michael Jackson will cut it. Of course, most of the people interested seem to be the ones too young to have seen it when it was new. I'm interested to see how everyone's excitement holds up. |

Has anyone seen EO since it opened? Since they are calling it a "tribute," I'm wondering how many differences there are. Is it just missing the lasers and smoke that they had in the theatre? _________________ Beth's Blog |

I have seen it three times last week. The Smoke and lasers are missing. They are also using the moving floor but it moves with the music ... poorly. It made me feel like I was watching the movie in a Jeep on a rough dirt road. The cast members doing the siel do not seem to have a hang for it yet. I was a little disappointed that on the last showing I saw the cast member called the 3D glasses safety googles which is a hold over from Honey.
In my own opinion the film is still bad. The acting is poor and the story is still weak. I also do not like the dialogue it seemed to be written down alot for the theme park audience.
I do like the singing parts of the movie. this is what MJ was good at and it shows in the movie he becomes more confident during this part of the film.
All in all I wish they did not bring it back and I do not see it pulling in big crowds. at no point did a see the que fill up where people had to wait through two shows. I do not see this tribute lasting past Christmas due to a lack of interest. _________________ Jason

Could they justify putting in the other ancillary effects for what is a short term show?
But with all the MJ hoopla after his death, maybe this was seen as an inexpensive way to keep all those folks happy.
Got to wonder if they let themselves get bullied into this. The film quality was poor when they replaced it, and it is not like they were going to re-film it.
So will they bring back Honey, or, and this is a novel idea, try something new. |

I'm excited to see it when I'm down in a couple of weeks. It was a favourite before and I've been known to view on You Tube since.
I do know there has been a demand to bring back the show in any capacity for some time... I have always said that those who didn't enjoy it or know it from the past would likely not enjoy it/appreciate it today. Sad that all the effects are not working---one of the coolest bits when it was going before!

Having never seen it, I would like to just for the experience. I'm in no way a MJ fan, but the show sounded...interesting. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

I hope you have a chance to catch it. If nothing else it is a part of Disneyland history!

Me too! I imagine some of the great memories also are around hanging out with friends on youth group trips and school excursions...
At the time it was all so new...the 3D---lasers, smoke & movement...and the way it looked as we went crashing into the planet...So cool!!
